BBSO Data Center

We have an online data archive that contains several full disk H-alpha images, observer's logs, full list of full-disk H-alpha data and quick look movies. GST data are presented in the GST Catalog (see below). All data may be requested via online data request systems.

In general, BBSO follows the SoHO convention (see below), except that the observation time will have six characters with format HHMMSS instead of four characters, and the miscellaneous info code will be modified to represent different spatial resolution and calibration data.

Example:

bbso_WAVE_TYPE_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.fts <--- filename

Following are a list of data WAVE codes:

tio GST TiO 705 nm Broadband Images
hab Blue-shifted H-alpha images
har Red-shifted H-alpha images
heb Blue-shifted He 10830A images
her Red-shifted He 10830A images
000, 020, ..., 120 Shift: 0.0nm, 0.02nm, ..., 0.120 nm

The TYPE codes:

pco Data from Broadband Filter Imager
vis Data from VIS instrument
niris NIRIS Data
i raw data
sel Selected Images
sr Speckle Reconstructed Images

NIRIS Polarimetry data:

cals NIRIS AR polarimetry Data
cal NIRIS quiet Sun polarimetry Data
15600 1.56 micron data

GST Data may be requested via a data request form that is available through the data catalog. Full disk H-alpha data (FDHA) may be requested via the FDHA project page.

Along with various relevant links and information, a GST catalog data page shows data coverage, several snapshots of acquired data as well as quick look movies. "Previous Day" and "Next Day" links allow users to jump to the next observing day.

The use of BBSO Ha images for public education efforts and non-commercial purposes is strongly encouraged and requires no expressed authorization. Since we are interested in the work that other people do with our data, we also would ask that authors send us a copy, reference, URL, etc. of their papers that use GST data. Details of Data Policy are presented in this document .

If you use BBSO data or some product based on the data, we ask that you include the following acknowledgement:
